Unfortunately that’s just how a capitalistic health care system is likely going to remain. The healthy must pay for the sick, at least that’s how the system works today. Ultimately until we take on a single-payer system like in most sane nations, I fail to see how the existing system can adapt to our needs as a nation. So, so much about Obamacare is useful…and I’m personally benefitting from its existence right now. But we need to move to the next phase of health care in this nation before it gets much worse. That will require, as you mentioned, compassion—something that I feel is woefully missing from the state of things in our United States.
